That is why all information about the client—including their accounts, business activities, personal life, and any other data held by the attorney—is protected under U.S. attorney–client privilege laws. This means that under no circumstances and by no means can such information be disclosed. Even if a U.S. court were to lawfully compel an attorney to testify in a matter involving their client, the attorney would only be permitted to provide information “if such information exists”, and only if it cannot be interpreted as a violation of attorney–client confidentiality. Any breach of this duty by an American attorney would result in severe legal and professional consequences. No court or government agency in the United States has the authority to force a lawyer to commit such a serious violation of federal and state law.
